Heyah!
Today's post will be about my trip with my mom and sister to Ipoh. Daddy went to attend his classmate's gathering, his college mates decided they should keep in contact, and they organize this gathering at Ipoh, close to their uni. And we followed dad to Ipoh, but he went along with his activity planned by his friends while we walk along Ipoh ourselves. My sis did a lot of information gathering, and so from the internet, she got hold of a lot of famous restaurants, mural painting destination, interesting tour places all printed out on a piece of paper. Mom was so awed and she gaped at the information printed on them papers.

Studying at the hotel, where to go next. |
So our first destination was this 糖水街, they sell a lot of ice kacang sort of dessert and also some food. When we arrived, it's still quite early, there's only a few stalls open, it will be über pack at night.
We all ordered from the same stall, 2 type of porridge, REALLY RECOMMEND IT because it's super tasty and not disappointing at all. I give it 5 stars. |
And of course, the name 糖水街 don't come without reason, most of the stalls there sell these bowl of iced fruit bowl. Mixed with fruits and also a few peanuts. There's jelly, grape, mango, watermelon ball, melon etc etc and a scoop of yam ice cream. :) Very satisfying cooling and overall, it MELTS instantly in your mouth. :) |
Then we decided to come to this area when night approaches. It's blocked, so no cars can enter. What can you find inside? Lots of restaurants selling the famous 芽菜鸡,pastries, local delicacies, and more.
Here's the famous 芽菜鸡. Just like Klang is famous of Bah Kut Teh, Ipoh is famous for this. :) |
DAY 2
So sis did her research and found out that many suggested this restaurant Xin Xiang Er Nong. It's known for it's famous white coffee. I mean.. the whole Ipoh is famous for it's white coffee. Even non-coffee addict like me suddenly had interest in coffee too. |
Ipoh white coffee.
Okay, it's supposed to be super tasty for coffee addicts. But to my disappointment (nothing wrong with the coffee) i didn't like the bitterness of it. It's too bitter for my taste bud. I just couldn't get used to it no matter how much my mom and sis praise how awesome it is. |
I noticed there's a lot of dry curry mee stalls at Ipoh as well, so i decided to try it, i mean, DRY CURRY? Wow that's something. My whole life i've only had soup curry, and the taste is very pekat (concentrated). I love it. Another thumbs up. |
My sis is IN LOVE with mural paintings. She's obsessed with them. So she dug out lots of infos on ALL THE MURAL PAINTINGS in Ipoh and is determined to go to all of them (though she already went once :P)
Here's the rainbow buildings. Very romantic ain't it? |
with mommy. |
While taking our shots, this uncle was very friendly and approached us to talk, along with his wife, i think they're enjoying their retirement life and they open a traditional chinese medicine shop (or something like that), they sell very natural chrysanthemum tea and longgan water by the alley of their shop. |
chrysanthemum tea. Very natural and refreshing after the long alley walk of mural paintings. |
This is 二奶巷,it means in mandarin - second wife's alley. |
And near to the end of the alley there's this really beautiful craft shop. Where they sell a lot of crafty stuff. |
We also came across people looking for adopters for the strays and also breeded dogs. |
Walking around the town, we stopped by many places. There's a lot of interesting things to capture and also visit and see.
Locks, like you see in movies, where they buy this lock thingy, and write their name and their partner's and then throw away the key, stuff like that. |
Many people there were eating this thing called "iceballs" sold by a small shop there, and we decided to try it, only to realise when the shop worker told us people from the 80s or 90s already started eating this iceballs thingy. |
The shop is full of ancient stuff and very very expensive, yeah, it's vintage and stuff... |
Here's the iceballs. Taste a lot like ice kacang with syrups and pepsi taste like. Not bad :) |
We decided to stop by this restaurant and eat yet again :) |
Another round of dry curry mee, they're just too fantabulous. |
We also walked around searching for egg tarts. From sister's information paper, it brings us to this shop, don't know the name sorry, but i saw many people eating some sort of stuff like pudding. Only did we realise later on it's egg. |
Looks like pudding right? Very very cute. Not many people like the taste of this, for example my mom, i think it's okay. :D |
And then continue with food hunt at night, this is a big food court, we decided to try a lot of food, and first stop - pohpiah. |
Crispy pohpiah, tasty and awesome. |
Hakka mee. Not bad. |
Soup and mee. Okay, i'm really bad with food names. I don't think this is informative to anyone at all who looked forward to visit ipoh with the purpose of food hunting, sorry guys, i forgot to note down the name of the shops and restaurant. I'm a clean eater person. :3
The next day, we decided to try out dim sum. Dad's friend told us ipoh is VERYYYY famous for hong kong dim sum, and one of it is.... |
TADAAAAA!!!
You can hardly find any seats there. We were lucky, we shared table with another couple. After that you can constantly see people standing beside waiting to be serve, but boy do they wait long and a lot of them are fighting for seats, even if it takes to share the table with someone else. It's full house and the place is very very pack and busy, the workers are not even enough. Due to holiday i guess. |
Ipoh is also very famous for salted chicken.
We went to riverfront (or so i heard) and walk. It's stunningly beautiful at night according to dad as the place light up like christmas tree. :D but we went in the morning, so yeah. Just us and nature. Deserted as no one is there.
We also visited the train station, pos office and more at the main part of ipoh.
My shoulders are so pain from all the typing haha, imma rest now, keep you guys updated soon!
kthxbai.
